Sponsor a Cat – FAQ
What is Cats Welfare Cat/Kitten Sponsorship?
Sponsors give a minimum of 3€ a month to help look after cats and kittens in our foster care while we find them permanent homes with loving new owners.
What does my Sponsorship money buy?
Your donation goes towards helping all the pets in our care, not just the one you have picked. Your generous donations will help fund everyday items, like beds, food, special kitten milk and toys. Your monthly gift means we can ensure adult cats are vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed, neutered and receive any other veterinary treatment they need. Plus, your donations will help fund any extra support for cats who haven’t had the best start to life and need extra TLC to help get them ready for their new homes.
What makes Cats Welfare Sponsorship different?
As a Cats Welfare Sponsor, you are helping unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens in our foster homes to find happy new forever homes. It may take days, weeks or months to re-home a cat so you may sponsor many different pets along the way.
What’s really exciting is that you get the chance to help many cats, rather than just one. We’ll also keep you updated with regular emails, so you’ll be one of the first to know when they’re re–homed.
Will I receive anything in the post?
No. But you will get regular emails and a certificate.
It seems as if I get a new pet nearly every month. Why?
This is because your sponsored cat or kitten have been re-homed, after all, it’s what we’re here for. We believe every pet deserves a healthy life in a happy home and we do all we can to make this happen in as short a time as possible. If you are getting a new pet every month it’s good news; it means we are managing to find new homes for more cats and kittens who desperately need them.
You may also find that some cats will take longer to re-home. This could be because they have health problems, which we need to help them through before they are re-homed, or it may be that they are simply being overlooked because they are a less popular colour, like black cat and black kittens, or are a little bit older. Finding homes for some cats may only take a few weeks but others need more care and attention before they are ready to leave us.
Will anyone else sponsor my pet?
People can choose to sponsor the same cat or kitten as you, some can be very popular.
What do Sponsors receive?
You will get an email with a certificate, photograph and message from your pet which you can download and print, plus a copy of their pet profile telling you more about them. You’ll receive regular news by email about what your cat has been up to, including whether he or she has been re-homed.
What happens when my Sponsored Cat or Kitten is re-homed?
That’s great news! It means another healthy cat has found a loving new home. We will let you know by email, and tell you all about your new sponsored cat. We will automatically choose this cat for you, but the email will include a link to all our cats who need sponsors, so if you’d like to choose a different one, you can.
Can I visit my sponsored pet?
No. This is a new venture for us. If it’s a real success (which we hope it is) there could be lots of people wanting to visit their sponsored cat. As the animals are being looked after by Foster Carers in their own homes it is not possible.
How does Sponsorship work?
Choose the cat or kitten you’d like to sponsor, read all about them, then click the ‘Sponsor me’ button, this will take you to a page that will explain the options. Following receipt of your sponsorship we will send you a confirmation and a welcome email, together with a certificate and cat profile you can download and print.
When does my Sponsorship end?
Your sponsorship continues helping cat after cat, as long as your direct debit, or annual donation remains active. We hope you won’t, but if you are thinking of cancelling please contact us.
Can I sponsor more than one pet?
There is no limit on the number of cats and kittens you can sponsor just set up a Direct Debit for a minimum amount of €3 per month, or an annual bank transfer or PayPal payment of a minimum €36 multiplied by the number of cats and kittens you would like to sponsor.
Can I sponsor a pet as a gift for someone else?
Yes no problem. Tel us the email address of the person you wish to gift the sponsorship to and we will do the rest. Tell us if the gift is for a special occasion, Birthday, Christmas etc and we will tailor the certificate we email accordingly.
